A series of "Audio-Visual China Enters Cambodia" activities were launched on Friday in Phnom Penh, aiming at further enhancing cultural ties and people-to-people contact between the two countries.

The event was also designed to further boost the bonds of friendship among the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) countries, which include China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

During the one-and-a-half-hour launching event, a Cambodian artist sang a song describing excellent Cambodia-China friendship as well as relations among the LMC countries.

Also, a clip featuring culture, civilization and daily lives of people in LMC countries and a short video on Cambodia's beauty and development were screened, and the Khmer version of the "Lancang-Mekong Audiovisual App" was unveiled.

Under the guidance of China's National Radio and Television Administration and Cambodia's Ministry of Information, this event was co-organized by National Television of Cambodia (TVK), Yunnan Provincial Radio and Television Bureau, and Cambodia Digital Television Co, Ltd.

Cambodian Information Ministry advisor Prak Mao Molin, director of TVK's international cooperation department, said the event not only promoted Cambodia-China media exchanges and cooperation, but also enhanced people-to-people contact between the two countries.

"This event not only demonstrates the in-depth cooperation between the two sides in technology integration, content co-construction, platform interconnection and other aspects, but also builds a solid and vivid communication bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia," he told about 100 participants.

"It will inject stronger synergy and cultural momentum into the construction of a Cambodia-China community with a shared future," Mao Molin added.

San Ytheng, a 20-year-old student at the Institute of Foreign Languages under the Royal University of Phnom Penh, said that through the event, she saw China has very good relations with LMC countries.

"The screening of this clip has made me gain insights into customs, daily lives, culture and civilization of peoples in the Mekong-Lancang countries," she told Xinhua after attending the event.

Ytheng said China-Cambodia friendship is very good and historical, and China and her people have helped Cambodia a lot.

"When we are in difficulty, China has never abandoned us," she said. "They have helped us a lot, such as constructing bridges, roads, and Morodok Techo National Stadium, among others."

She recalled that when Cambodia was in difficulty caused by COVID-19, China had donated vaccines to save Cambodian people's lives.

"This relationship is really excellent and we will continue to maintain and advance it further," she said.

Ytheng also praised China for its rapid development in science, technology, industries and innovation, saying that she hoped to gain a scholarship to study in China one day.

Tang Haiyan, a 21-year-old student at the Institute of Foreign Languages under the Royal University of Phnom Penh, said the "Audio-visual China enters Cambodia" event has shown civilization, culture and bonds of friendship between China and Cambodia.

"It makes both countries have closer bonds of friendship," she told Xinhua.

She said China has contributed to Cambodia's development, providing aid, materials, and a lot of scholarships to Cambodian students, and this has made Cambodia develop stronger in economy, agriculture and human resources.
